Stops

Stops in RouteBot are predefined pickup and drop-off locations for personnel transportation. Instead of using individual employee addresses, you can create centralized stop points where multiple employees gather for transportation.

What is a Stop?

A Stop record in RouteBot includes:

  • A descriptive name for the location
  • Physical address with map verification
  • Association with a specific company/client
  • Geographic coordinates for route planning

Stops are useful for:

  • Centralized pickup points (e.g., metro stations, parking lots)
  • Predefined drop-off locations
  • Reducing route complexity by grouping nearby employees
  • Creating consistent pickup/drop-off schedules

Note: The Stops feature is available for personnel transportation and requires the appropriate permissions.

Using Stops with Employees

Employees can be assigned to stops instead of using their home addresses:

  2. Find the stop assignment fields:
    • Get On Stop - Where the employee is picked up
    • Get Off Stop - Where the employee is dropped off

  4. Save the employee record

Benefits of Using Stops

  • Simplified routes: Fewer individual pickup points
  • Consistent timing: Predictable pickup/drop-off times
  • Easier coordination: Employees know exactly where to go
  • Reduced travel time: Optimized routes with fewer stops

Best Practices

Naming Conventions

Use clear, recognizable names:

  • Include landmarks: "Metro Station - Central"
  • Include areas: "North Parking Lot"
  • Be specific: "Main Gate Entrance"

Location Accuracy

  • Always verify map pins are correct
  • Place pins at the exact pickup spot
  • Consider accessibility for vehicles
  • Account for traffic flow at the location

Stop Planning

When setting up stops:

  • Choose locations accessible by shuttle vehicles
  • Consider employee distribution and travel times
  • Select spots with adequate waiting areas
  • Ensure the location is easy to find

Multiple Stops

For large operations:

  • Create stops in different areas of the city
  • Group employees by their nearest stop
  • Balance the number of employees per stop
  • Consider rush hour traffic patterns

Common Issues

"Stop not appearing in employee assignment"

  • Verify the stop exists and is saved correctly
  • Check the stop is associated with the correct company
  • Ensure you have access permissions

"Address not verifying"

  • Try entering a more complete address
  • Include city and postal code
  • Manually drag the pin to the correct location
  • Check the address format for your country

"Can't save the stop"

  • Ensure all required fields are filled
  • Verify the address is confirmed on the map
  • Check for validation errors

Stops vs. Individual Addresses

Aspect Individual Addresses Stops
Pickup location Employee's home Centralized point
Route planning Many individual stops Fewer consolidated stops
Timing Varies per employee Consistent for all users
